Program Manual This comprehensive Manual is designed to offer the full overview of the theory and practical applications of the various program elements in the Twemlow & Sacco Program Materials. This manual contains every key ingredient for the development and management of programs in the K-5 Elementary schools.

This Manual provides detail on how to design and implement programs that fit the needs of every school. The extensive APPENDICES contain the administrative forms, certificates, handouts, and other administrative materials to design, manage, and document the program in an elementary school.
Progressive Discipline Materials
Teacher Discipline ManualThe Teacher's Manual is the backbone of this progressive discipline approach. The manual is used in the Teacher training as well as an ongoing reference for use by the teacher during the school year. This approach to discipline demands constant adjustment and this manual is designed as a Teacher's guidebook for use during the school year.
Personal Note CardsThese cards are designed for use along with the Teacher Discipline Manual and the Student Workbooks. These cards offer 6 messages. Two cards are reward cards showing the male and female Gentle Warrior characters. Four cards are warning cards that outline problem behavior roles and warn parents to keep an eye out for these behaviors. These cards are printed on fine, high-grade card stock with matching envelopes.
Parent Warning Notes The note cards offer a way to write notes to parents. The note cards have the program messages artistically inserted on the outside cover of the note cards. Also, the cards offer a way to reward students for their concrete contributions to creating a peaceful school climate. The cards also offer a message using Zen Brush Art and quotes that are designed to promote self-reflection and awareness.
Positive Climate Tools
PostersThe program messages can be reinforced by the use of colorful posters that portray the program messages about bullying, being a victim, or a bystander. The colorful posters are 11" x 17" and laminated for easy display on school walls or the classroom. The posters warn against the damage of teasing, ostracizing, mean tricks, and other forms of social aggression. The posters are an important way of impacting the larger school climate. Zero tolerance for bullying, being a victim or bystander are the recurrent themes. K-5 Posters, EM-001 to EM-024. Set of all 24 posters EM-SET. 11" x 17" laminated (5 ml). Available as a complete set or mix and match.
Buttons and Magnets The program message needs to be reinforced constantly in as many ways as possible and these simple recurring messages also have to be sent home to create a connection between the program messages reinforced at school and those at home. The magnets are designed to have the program's messages taken home by students and placed on their refrigerators. Teachers and parents can be encouraged to wear the buttons that also reinforce the program's positive messages. Magnets are 2" x 3.5". Buttons are 2.25" round.
POWER STRUGGLES STUDENT WORKBOOKS
These workbooks are designed to offer classroom and homework assignments that reinforce the program's messages. Each series offers a range of coloring, drawing, and word game exercises involving the program's messages about bullying and being a victim or bystander. Sheets are perforated for easy ripping for take home assignments and each page has a front and back exercise that targets one program message.
GENTLE WARRIOR LESSON PLANS
The Gentle Warrior Program is a centerpiece of the Twemlow & Sacco Safe and Civil School program elements. The 12-week curriculum is a minute by minute description of how the classes are to be conducted. The lessons are specially designed for physical education teachers, health teachers, and counselors. Specialized training and certification of school personnel in teaching the Gentle Warrior program is available. Trained teachers and counselors are certified as CHILD SAFETY SPECIALISTS. The lesson plan guides certified (by Twemlow & Sacco Group) Child Safety Specialists through the basic steps including stretching, role playing, self defense, storytelling , and offers detailed bibliographies of effective stories.
After every Gentle Warrior class, the teacher hands out a parent information sheet to take home that explains the messages taught during that day's class. The handouts have tips for parents and include fun illustrations from the Gentle Warrior series.
Gentle Warrior Patches Every student who participates in the Gentle Warrior classes is offered a specialized patch with the Gentle Warrior symbols indicating that the student in enrolled in this specialized program. T-shirts can be used instead of patches.
Gentle Warrior Training Video This 50 minute training video illustrates all the techniques used in the Gentle Warrior Classes. All the physical techniques are demonstrated and broken down for easy imitation. Sensei Steve Twemlow illustrates stretches, role playing, defensive tactics, and relaxation exercises. This tape can be used by certified Child Safety Specialists and also sent home to parents for their information and to assist in any practicing at home.
GENTLE WARRIOR READING BOOKS A series of children's reading books with colorful illustrations that reinforce the messages of the GENTLE WARRIOR Program. The books are meant to be read by students in Grades 2 and 3 and to be read to K-1. The stories deal with forms of bullying and how children can be involved in a variety of roles. The stories deal with issues such as mean tricks, teasing, ex exclusions, and physical intimidation.
